Year 4 Drama, by Mrs Hover

Date: 25th Nov 2016 @ 8:30pm

WALT use drama to explore animal extinction and animals living in captivity

Today we moved on to look at animals because animals were traditionally used in circuses.  In an exciting drama lesson with Mrs Baillie, we explored the movement and posture of different jungle animals creating ‘The Futuristic Museum of Extinct Animals’.  Next, we created ‘The Live Jungle’ soundscape where we started off as trees and then some children changed into animals, whilst other children became poachers.  Canes were used by the poachers to create a cage and the trapped animals were given ‘human voices’ to describe how they would be feeling.

Year 2 Anti-Bullying Week , by Mrs Harrison

Date: 21st Nov 2016 @ 2:55pm

Last week we did some work on Anti-Bullying week and decided that in Year 2, we would focus on Friendship.

We write some recipes for Friendship Soup using the 'commands' we had been working on in Literacy. We decided on the most important ingredients for a good friendship and put these into our recipe writing. We also made a friendship bracelet for another member of the class.

The children had such wonderful ideas on friendship and we decided that we are all friends and we will all look out for each other :)

Year 1 had a fantastic first school trip at Delamere Forest. In the morning, we used the natural resources around us to create art work. We have some fantastic artists.

After lunch time, Year 1 went for a autumal walk through part of the forest looking at the different nuts, berries and leaves they could find. I wonder whether you can find an acorn, sweet chestnut or hazelnut at home?

Art and Design Technology in year 3, by Miss Jones

Date: 15th Nov 2016 @ 9:49pm

Year 3 have been very busy over the last week. We have been working on sketching Stone Age weapons and tools using different pencil tones and textures. We then designed our own tool ready to make using bamboo canes, string and stones. The children experimented with different fixing techniques.  They particularly enjoyed using the hacksaws to cut their handles to the correct length.

Then the children had a go at creating their own cave art style picture using tea stained paper and oil pastels.  They have worked very hard to make items for our display. Watch this space to see the finished display....

Danny Jones Girls Football Tournament, by Miss Jones

Date: 13th Nov 2016 @ 8:30pm

Friday 11th November  - Danny Jones Football Tournament at Christleton High School

Well done to the year 5 and 6 girls who represented the school at the Danny Jones Football Tournament at Christleton High School.

The girls got off to a great start, winning 3 matches and drawing 1 during the group stage. They won their group which saw them progress through to the semi-finals!

With a score of 0-0 at full time, the girls faced a nail-biting penalty shoot out.  Fabulous goal keeping by Katie saw the girls win on penalties, seeing them through to the final against Saughall!

Yet again, after some fantastic football, the score was 0-0 at full time. Miss Jones could barely look as we faced more nail-biting penalties. More expert goal keeping and goals scoring  saw Oldfield WIN the final on penalties! Every player received a medal and the team received a trophy.

The girls showed brilliant skill, determination and sportsmanship and really were a credit to the school. They should be very proud of themselves; I know I am!

Well done Ruby W, Katie G, Katie N, Abbie (captain), Kimberley, Poppy, Sarah, Ruby P, Eva and Amelie.
