Year 3 had a brilliant trip into Roman Chester! They explored around the Grosvenor Museum and enjoyed a workshop looking at lots of Roman artefacts. They did some Roman army training at the amphitheatre before walking all the way back to school. The children's behaviour was brilliant and it was lovely chatting to them as we walked along the canal on a sunny day :)

We are enjoying our gymnastics lessons with Mr Bell. We have been doing forward rolls, teddy rolls, 3 rolls to stand, balancing and jumping.

We had lots of fun learning how to Beatbox in Y1. We discovered we can make music just with our mouth! A huge thank you to James who gave us the skills and confidence to do this.

We have been working in our programming in Year 2 using the Beebots. The children enjoyed learning that the order of instructions is important hen creating algorithms.

We have been investigating wheels and axles in Year 2 in preparation for making our own vehicle. We made two different types, one with moving wheels and one with moving axles. Great work year 2!

We loved being outside today exploring our school grounds. We have been busy weeding our Coronation Garden, noticing the plants growing around us as we were weeding.
We have been identifying, drawing and labelling the basic structure of common plants.
It has been fun to plant our own seeds today (cress seeds and sunflower seeds). We have taken home our cress seeds today to care of them. Next week we will update everyone on how well they grew! Parents would be welcome to send in photos if they would like.
We will be looking after our sunflower seeds at school and planting some of them around school.

This half term, as part of our Science, we are exploring the properties of different materials and if/how we can change their shape.
This week we have been experimenting the effect of twisting, squashing, stretching and bending.

We have enjoyed learning about the activities that take place over Chinese New Year, tasting some Chinese food and hearing the story of the animals' race to have a year named after them.
Year 5 First Aid, by Mrs Wong

Year 5 were fantastic during our First Aid session today. The children had fun practising their first aid skills on each other. Such an amazing opportunity to learn skills that could help them in a time of need. The children listened carefully and asked really good questions to support their learning. I was very proud of them! They all passed with flying colours and their certificates will arrive shortly!

Another week and another scientific investigation in Year 5! We used filtering to separate insoluble mixtures. The children worked so well in their groups and found that we can separate insoluble mixtures using filtering! Super science Year 5!
