Welcome To Oldfield Primary School

Message from Mrs Bailey - Acting Headteacher

Welcome to Oldfield Primary School

Oldfield is a welcoming, warm, inclusive and ambitious school at the heart of our community. Following Mr Brown’s recent retirement after almost 16 years of dedicated service, I am proud to be serving as Acting Headteacher.

We are proud to welcome children from our local community and beyond, creating a rich and diverse school family.

Since joining Oldfield in 2008, I have had the privilege of working with a committed team who ensure every pupil feels valued, supported and inspired. Our staff bring a wonderful blend of expertise, enthusiasm and genuine care to their work, making learning engaging and enjoyable. Their dedication creates a positive, nurturing environment where children feel happy, confident and ready to succeed.

At Oldfield, we live by our core values of Cooperation, Achievement, Respect and Enjoyment. These values shape everything we do from the way we learn, to the way we treat one another, to the way we face challenges with determination and optimism. Through our emotion coaching approach, we help children understand and manage their feelings, building resilience, empathy and positive relationships. Together, these principles guide our culture and practice, helping every child to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning that lasts well beyond their primary years. Above all, we want every child to feel known, valued and encouraged to be the very best version of themselves.

Partnership is central to our success. We value the strong relationships we have with families and the wider community, and we know that working together helps every child to thrive. Our team approach - staff, pupils, parents and community working side by side - is one of the things that gives Oldfield its strong sense of belonging and shared purpose, shaping an environment where pupils build essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom and prepare them for their future. From Forest School adventures to a rich musical programme, the freedom of our large outdoor spaces, a wide range of extra curricular clubs, opportunities to represent the school, educational visits both local and further afield, and visitors to school who enrich our curriculum with their insights, stories and expertise, these all help to make learning meaningful and memorable, broadening pupils horizons and inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

We are excited to be launching our new Facebook page and Instagram account, offering a glimpse into the daily life of our school and the wonderful experiences our children enjoy. Alongside our website and fortnightly newsletters, they will provide a snapshot of the learning, creativity and enjoyment that fill our classrooms and playgrounds each day.

We would love to welcome you to Oldfield and warmly invite you to visit us and see our school in action.
