This week we atrted reading our fantastic new story book 'Silly Billy' by Anthony Browne.

In the gallery you will see us making worry dolls like Billy did in the story, you will see us hot seating Billy to ask him questions about his feelings in the story and you will see us creating advice centres to offer people advice on how to deal with life's little worries :)

What a fantastic day we had at the Stockport Air Raid Shelter! It gave us all a wonderful hands on experience of what it would be like to be a evacuee during WW2. Please enjoy looking at what we got up to!

The children have settled in really well this week. They have been learning through play and have particularly enjoyed playing in the Three Bears Cottage and painting pictures.

Our last trip of the year today and what an amazing day out it was! The sun was shining and we had fun pond dipping, seashore searching, ice cream eating and playing games on the beach. So proud as ever of your behaviour Year 2- you were all super! Special thanks to Mrs Lunt, Mrs Rustom and Mrs Kelly as well as Mrs Holmes and Mrs Hilsden :)

The children absolutely loved their pebble jar treat. Half of the class played with their teddies whilst the other half of the class whizzed around the playground on their bikes. We then had our picnic on the grass under the trees. I would also like to say a special thanks to Vinny's mum and Amelia's mum for making some delicious short bread and cake-pops for our picnic!

We were very lucky to have a visit from a drama teaching expert this week! Mrs Baillie (Joe's Mum) came to work on our drama techniques and even taught us some stage combat. We used this to help us stage our wonderful pirate story Mungo and the Picture Book Pirates. The children worked so hard and showed what a talented group they are yet again! A big thank you to Mrs Baillie for a thoroughly enjoyable morning and for giving up her time to work with us!

Wow! wow ! Wow!

What a fantastic week of homework for the children in year 1. The children had to invent their own character that could be in the Rainbow Fish story. You have all been very, very creative.

The children have also created fabulous pieces of writing for their lost posters and made Rainbow Fish using old CDs in literacy. These, along with some of the homework are on display in the year one classroom. So why not check out our gallery....

Y1 Growing plants , by Miss Lynch

We planted some broad beans. The children each have their own plant pot and have been keeping a broad bean diary in school. Our plants have been growing for three weeks now and many of them have really started to shoot through the soil.

We also planted some cress seeds and we will be watching how well they grow in various conditions.

We looked at the cress today. We found out that the cress growing outside with sunlight and water has grown healthily. The cress with no sunlight and very little water has died.

Chester Cup Final, by Mr Huddart

Well done to the Year 6 team who managed to make the final of the Chester Cup. 32 teams took part in the cup this year and they should be very proud of the way they represented the school. Sadly they lost 3-2 in the final, but it was a very even game.

Yr 1 - The Rainbow Fish comes to school!, by Miss Lynch

In Year 1 we are reading a book called the Rainbow Fish. We have enjoyed writing about the story's setting and characters. Before half term, we were shocked to find the Rainbow Fish sitting in the Year 1 classroom! The children asked him lots of brilliant questions so that they could get to know him better. He asked for our advice because he did not know whether to share his sparkly, silver scales with the other fish. We told him that it was kind to share. I wonder whether he took our advice ...

Shine non uniform day 2015, by Mrs Bailey

Thank you to everyone who generously donated to the charity SHINE (Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Information, Networking, Equality) on our non uniform day. We raised £178.25. As you can see from the photographs, yellow was central to our day! A special thank you to Mrs Stark and her team for organising a tasty yellow themed lunch.
