Year 3 friction experiment, by Miss Jones

Date: 1st Mar 2016 @ 11:46pm

Today in science the chlidren were learning all about the force, friction. We carried out an experiment to test how different surfaces create different amounts of friction. We found out that the rougher or bumpier a surface, the more friction is created and the smoother a surface, the less friction is created. This means that a toy car moves quicker along smoother surfaces such as tin foil, and slower on a more bumpy surface like bubble wrap.

Thank you so much to everyone for baking, buying, helping to set up and selling our wonderful cakes. We couldn't do it without you.

Once again we were amazed with all the very clever designs. It was almost a shame to cut them up ...let alone eat them !! Mr Brown and the King's students had great fun judging all the brilliant cakes made.

The cake sale was a complete sell out and made a fantastic £109 profit!

Thank you once again :)

Year 3 Active Maths, by Miss Jones

Date: 8th Jan 2016 @ 10:09am

This week in numeracy we have been busy learning all about right angles. The children started by making their own angle eaters. We then went on a right angle hunt outsite in the playground and inside our classroom, using our angle eaters to check for right angles. We worked in our colour groups and used the ipads to photograph our findings.

As an extra challenge, when we came back inside the children were given 15 lolly sticks and were asked to make a shape with the greatest number of right angles.

Check out the gallery to see how many right angles were hiding inside and outside of our classroom!
