Toys Past and Present in Year 1, by Mrs Bailey
Date: 8th Sep 2024 @ 6:25pm
In our first lesson on Toys Past and Present, we started to describe the charcteristics of toys. We enjoyed describing toys from our class feely bag and our friends trying to work out what we were describing. We used words such as: hard, soft, fluffy, squishy, bendy, floppy, smooth, rough, bumpy, taller than ...., smaller than .... to describe things in the classroom that we like to play with. We linked this to items we like to hold that help us to feel calm.
Children will get the opportunity to bring in a toy from home to share with us all on Friday 20th September - more information on our class page.
Yoga in Year 1, by Mrs Bailey
Date: 8th Sep 2024 @ 6:08pm
We warmed up safetly before our yoga lesson, making the most of the lovely weather and warming up outside.
Today, in our first yoga lesson, we practiced 6 yoga poses:
Sandwich pose
Spider pose
Snake pose
Shark pose
Star pose
Surfer pose
Star pose seemed to be the pose most children found the easiest. Shark pose was one of the trickier poses. We recognised the important of quiet and focus whilst performing our yoga moves.

We have had a wonderful first day on our visit to Tattenhall.
After our morning tour, a play and lunch we set off on our walk around the village. We ended up at the amazing park near the school for a play.
After a mid afternoon snack we really enjoyed orienteering around the centre grounds.
We had either pizza or chicken nuggets for tea with chocolate cake, jelly or fruit for pudding.
After a sing a long by the campfire with smoors we had a play. We are ready for bed and just watching a dvd.

Year 6 have amazed us all over the last 3 days with their teamwork, caring attitudes, resilience and adventurous spirits! They have paddle boarded, mountain biked, adventured along the coastline, splashed in the sea, rockpooled, jumped into caves, made fires, tried archery, conquered the night line, orienteered and most of all really looked after each other.
We loved having the time with them 😊
