Thank you to our visiting Imam who told us about the Islamic faith in assembly today. We learnt to say Peace be with you in arabic and found out about the Five Pillars of Islam. He brought a good mix of resources to support our learning.

Today, we watched a short film about the remote Isle of Ulva. We imagined that this was our location for our Year 4 residential! In small groups, we created our own maps of the island, plotting key features and then we recorded all our questions about our week's residential on the island.

Year 2 - Retelling the Christmas story, by Mrs Harrison

Year 2 have had a fun filled day. This morning, they re-told the Christmas story using their knowledge from last year and the Christmas play.
They organised themselves into their own groups and were in charge of creating something to share to the class. We had a range of performances such as; plays, posters, songs, puppets and lego constructions.

Year 2 - Jump high little dolphin you are safe now, by Mrs Harrison

As a class, Year 2 researched, presented and voted for the animal which they felt needed their help the most.
We used the information provided on the WWF website to inform us of all those endangered animals.
Year 2 couldn’t believe how many there were and the reasons behind them becoming endangered.
From the votes, it came about that we would adopt a dolphin for our Christmas gift.
They thoroughly enjoyed unwrapping their present today to find lots of information about the dolphins as well as a certificate for each child.
The class will continue to develop their understanding of animal conservation in the Spring term.

Year 2 worked with a partner to circulate around the editing stations to improve their own versions of 'The dragon machine'. What helpful friends they have!
Year 4 - Awareness Video about Sumatran Tiger, by Mrs Hover

Please look at our video called, ‘Would it be OK…?’ about the plight of Sumatran Tigers. They are critically endangered and we wanted to educate people so this beautiful animal doesn’t become extinct. We worked in pairs thinking about the ‘voice’ of the tiger and then created powerful questions based upon their threats.
Design Technology in Year 3: Stone Age Tools and Weapons, by Miss Jones

Year 3 have had a very busy morning today.
In Topic, we have been learning about how Stone Age people made their own tools and weapons. Our mission was to design and make our very own weapon or tool inspired by what we had learnt so far.
The children have designed and made their very own Stone Age weapon or tool, in pairs. Everyone produced some fantastic designs and had wonderful ideas. Everyones has clearly learnt a lot during our topic lessons. At the end of the session, the children evaluated their final product. Here are our final products.....

Today Y5 have been working with Tesco and their Eat Happy project. The children learnt about why oranges are symbolic at Christ,as and then decorated an orange. After that, they decorated gingerbread men. We had a great morning.
