We have been investigating wheels and axles in Year 2 in preparation for making our own vehicle. We made two different types, one with moving wheels and one with moving axles. Great work year 2!

This half term, as part of our Science, we are exploring the properties of different materials and if/how we can change their shape.
This week we have been experimenting the effect of twisting, squashing, stretching and bending.

In PSHE we have been learning about our community, environment and how to take care of it. We made bug hotels for the creatures living in our forest school area.

Year 2 had a visit from Libby at The Feathery Folk this week with her owls. We have been reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and are about to write an information report on owls. We enjoyed learning lots of facts about the different species and they enjoyed having a fly around our school hall!

Throughout the year we will participate in sports competitions.
Our Y5/6 team took part in a tournament organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation.
In the English Schools under 11 football competition, we were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Upton Heath in a very close semi-final.

Whilst learning about Judaism in year 2, we have explored the celebration of Shabbat - the Jewish day of rest and enrichment. We learned about how Shabbat is celebrated and made our own Challah bread.

Year 2 had a fantastic time at Forest Schools on the last day of Autumn Term 1!
Linked to our Troll Swap text which we explored in English, we created troll houses (carefully considering everything a troll might need), made troll families and had lots of fun building and lighting our own fires!

This week we have been learning all about algorithms and why the order of our instructions is so important. Here we are making predictions about where our Bee Bots would move to and trying out the same commands but in different orders.

This half term we have been exploring 2D shapes through lots of practical work.We have been looking at the properties of shapes including their vertices and their lines of symmetry.

So much effort has gone into our Design Technology project this half term. We learnt how to make an axle and a chassis and then designed and made our own vehicles. We think you will agree that they look amazing! Very proud of you all Year 2 :)

We have been absolutely blown away by the amazing shoebox habitats completed over the Easter break! Thank you for all of your hard work and effort that has gone into making them. We have enjoyed time this week exploring each others habitat and loved seeing each others different ideas.
